Well.....my lap-top is back up and running again - (yay...don't want to say that too loud for fear of jinxing it) Of course it was something stupid, like I figured it would be, but again, one never knows when the history of one's luck with these "contraptions of the future", has not been favorable! - So, I'm crossing my fingers, but I don't think I'll hold my breath...(given the past history, I'll be turning blue before the day's out!) So Hi again! - and hopfully this thing will work...at least until my old PC is back up and running, and then it's this one's turn to bite the dust again, I mean fair is fair, right?....(arg!) Oh, and here's something...my brand spankin' new lap-top is 10X slower than my old clunky computer...and they are both on dial up! ...Isn't the new stuff supposed to work at least as well as the old out-of date- stuff??????????????

Check how much RAM you have so you can see how much more you can add on. That might help. I did that with my computer. :)

Your old computer may not have programs running in idle which slows down the computer like your high falootin new laptop.

Bishop's right. Too much junk from the get go. I would check and see how much free space you have on your hard drive. If it's not much, see what you can safely remove through Add/Remove Programs. Running Disk Clean Up and Defragging can make things faster (for a while). There's a few tricks for speeding it up, but you've got to clean up regularly if you use the internet a lot (cookies, temp internet files, etc). Hope this helps. Dial up sucks!

Ummm keep an eye on the paper! You can find 1 gig computers selling for as little as $75.00...and with your new found wealth....that should be no problem!!!! hehe

LOL!...I don't know though...at this point I think the smoke signals might be less frustrating! - "Send~O~More~O~ Food!"
Bishop\'s Fantasy?
The new stuff has all of the latest greatest junk (I mean software you just can't live without) pre-loaded and causes conflicts sometimes. I learned that the hard way with my internet setup. Took forever to figure out what was slowing the thing down and I still have problems with it dropping the connection periodically. Still, it's better than using smoke signals! :)
