Age and reality ...

Well - it's now passed the grandparents generation and has gone to the parent's generation -
A class mate of mine's father passed away this past friday from a long fight with cancer. - although I know it happens to all of us, and I am quite familiar with reality, thank you, it seems so strange to me that this is happening...doesn't seem quite real - or that it shouldn't be real - not yet anyway. I'll be going to the viewing tonight, or what is now called "visitation" ,(that seems like an dd word to use to me, but I guess you are visiting with the family, in reality),...kinda putting off getting ready, this will be hard to do, but even harder for my friend. So I'll go and I'll be there - for her and her family. The good news, and the other part of the reality in this - we know where he is, and that he is no longer in any pain - you hear people say this all the time, but in this case we know it is true.

Thank you Mr. E  for welcoming me and my family into your home, and sharing your family with me, and your testimony through the example of your life.

A fave for the dance floor!

This is one of my all time faves! -

Brickhouse

Ow she's a Brick-house,
She's mighty mighty,
Just lettin' it all hang out
She's a brick-house,
That lady's stacked,
And that's a fact,
Ain't holdin' nothin' back,
Ow she's a brick-house,
Well we're together everybody knows,
This is how the story goes...

She knows she's got everything,
That a woman needs, to get a man
How can she lose, with such a youth,
Thirty six, twenty four, thirty six,
What a winning hand!

She's a Brick-house,
She's mighty mighty,
Just lettin' it all hang out.
Yea she's a brick-house,
That lady's stacked,
And that's a fact,
Ain't holdin' nothin back,
Oh she's a brick-house,
Yeah she's the one, the only one,
Built like an Amazon

The clothes she wears, her sexy ways,
Makes her, ole man wish,
For younger days yeah yeah
She knows she's built,
And knows how to please.
Sho' nuff can knock a strong man to his knees.

Cause she's a brick-house,
She's mighty mighty,
Just lettin' it all hang out.
Oh she's a brick-house,
That lady's stacked,
And that's a fact,
Ain't holdin' nothin' back, yeah

Shake it down shake it down
Shake it down shake it down now
Shake it down, shake it down now,
Shake it down shake it ooo ga ga
Shake it down, shake it down
Shake it down shake it down now
Shake it down, shake it down now,
Shake it down shake it shake it

Brick-House -
Yeah, she's mighty mighty,
Just letting it all hang out
Ah what a brick-house,
Yeah she's the one, the only one,
Built like an Amazon.

Shake it down, shake it down
Shake it down shake it down now
Shake it down, shake it down
Shake it down shake it shake it
Shake it down, shake it down
Shake it down shake it down now
Shake it down, shake it down now,
Shake it down shake it shake it

Oh what a Brick-house,
She's mighty mighty,
Just lettin' it all hang out
Yea she's a brick-house,
That lady's stacked, that's the fact,
Ain't holdin' nothin' back,
Owww she's a brick-house
Yea she's the one, the only one,
Built like a Amazon

At Last - (song for Doe's daughter's wedding)

Ok I found it...it was originally done by Etta james and here are the lyrics of her version (These are just the lyrics):

At last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song
Oh, yeah, at last
The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clovers
The night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to rest my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Oh, yeah when you smile, you smile
Oh, and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine
At last

Christina Aguilera also did a re-make of this song...this shows how the song is put together a little better:
(etta james)

At last
My love has come along
My lonely days over
And life is like a song

At last
The skies above are blue
Well my heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you I found a dream
That I could speak to
A dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known well

You smile
You smile
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven

For you are mine at last
I found a dreamthat I could speak to
A dream that icould call my own
I found a thrillto press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Well

You smile
You smile
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine at last
Ooo yea
You are mine
You are mine
At last
At last
At last
At last

Suddenly I See!

Ok, listening to the radio has it's advantages and it's disadvantages...the advantages being that I'm really enjoying hearing some great music today, and the disadvantages...well....you guys get to read it in my post......yeah I know ..there she goes again! Seeesh! LOL!

But hey - It's got a great beat, and you can dance to it! :D

 This one's a great song too! -

"Suddenly I See"

Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

I feel like walking the world
Like walking the world
You can hear she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
She fills up every corner like she's born in black and white
Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember
What you heard
She likes to leave you hanging on her word

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

And she's taller than most
And she's looking at me
I can see her eyes looking from a page in a magazine
Oh she makes me feel like I could be a tower
A big strong tower
She got the power to be
The power to give
The power to see

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

Pretty in Pink - If You Leave ...

I just heard this on the radio...from the movie, Pretty in Pink. yeah, I'm old, but I LOVE this song! - so straight from the "way-back machine",  here it is :

If You Leave

If you leave, don't leave now
Please don't take my heart away
Promise me just one more night
Then we'll go our separate ways

We've always had time on our sides
Now it's fading fast
Every second every moment
We've got to--we've gotta make it last

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd still be friends, someday

If you leave I won't cry
I won't waste one single day
But if you leave don't look back
I'll be running the other way

Seven years went under the bridge
Like time standing still
Heaven knows what happens now
You've got to--you've gotta say you will

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd meet again

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd still be friends

I touch you once I touch you twice
I won't let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we'd meet again someday

If you leave
Oh if you leave
Oh if you leave
Don't look back
Don't look back

MySpace bars 29,000 sex offenders

It's about damn time!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6914870.stm

"The social networking website MySpace has reported a four-fold increase in the number of convicted sex offenders using its service.
The company found more than 29,000 convicted sex offenders in the United States had profiles on MySpace - up from a figure of 7,000 given in May.

MySpace said it was pleased it had identified and removed the profiles of the offenders.

Critics of MySpace call for new laws to make such sites safer for children.

MySpace is a personal website tool allowing people to post blogs, music, and videos.

More than 80 million people have registered a MySpace page. News Corp bought the site for $580m last year.

'Screams for action'

The new figures were first released by officials in two states - North Carolina and Connecticut - which have been pressing MySpace to reveal data about sex offenders found to be using the site.

"The exploding epidemic of sex offender profiles on MySpace - 29,000 and counting - screams for action," said Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.

In North Carolina, Attorney General Roy Cooper wants a state law that would require children to obtain parental permission before creating profiles on sites such as MySpace, and require the site to check parents' identity.

He said such a law would mean "fewer children at risk, because there will be fewer children on those web sites".

Under current rules, users must be over the age of 14 to register with MySpace.

In a statement, MySpace said: "We're pleased that we've successfully identified and removed registered sex offenders from our site and hope that other social networking sites follow our lead."

There are about 600,000 registered sex offenders in the United States. "

Temporarily???

Well.....my lap-top is back up and running again - (yay...don't want to say that too loud for fear of jinxing it)
Of course it was something stupid, like I figured it would be, but again, one never knows when the history of one's luck with these "contraptions of the future", has not been favorable! - So, I'm crossing my fingers, but I don't think I'll hold my breath...(given the past history, I'll be turning blue before the day's out!)
So Hi again! - and hopfully this thing will work...at least until my old PC is back up and running, and then it's this one's turn to bite the dust again, I mean fair is fair, right?....(arg!)
Oh, and here's something...my brand spankin' new lap-top is 10X slower than my old clunky computer...and they are both on dial up! ...Isn't the new stuff supposed to work at least as well as the old out-of date- stuff??????????????

Seven Wonders of The World

I'm hoping this one will work and show up in my blog....

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present   " Seven Wonders of the World ." Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt 's Great Pyramids

2. Taj Mahal

3. Grand Canyon

4. Panama Canal

5. Empire State Building

6. St. Peter 's Basilica

7. China 's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet. So she  asked the girl if she was having trouble with her  list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little.  I couldn't quite make up my mind because  there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.

"The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the ' Seven  Wonders of the World '   are:

1. To See

2. To Hear

3. To Touch

4. To Taste

5. To  Feel

6. To Laugh

7. And to Love."

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.
The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that we take for granted  are truly wondrous!

A gentle reminder -- that the most precious things in life cannot be built by hand or bought by man.

:)

Mr. Spamman

(Adapted from the song "Mr. Sandman")

Mr. Spamman, bring us a dream
Make it the nicest that we've ever seen
Let it be fun, and don't be a poser
And let us know that our lonesome nights are over.
Spamman, we're so alone
Don't have nobody to talk to at one,(am.)
Please don't be so durn mean
Mr. Spamman, bring us a dream.

Mr. Spamman, bring us a dream
And please stop being so durn mean
Why not be nice, and start your self over
Or just hit the road, and head to Dover.
Spamman, please play fair
Or we'll have to sic Ken on you in his "funtowear"!
Please stop or we will scream
Mr. Spamman, back off of our dream (blogsite)

Mr. Spamman, (male voice: "Yesss?") leave us alone
Or Nick and Rocky will send you packing home
Find something worthwhile to do
Or I wouldn't want to be you
Spamman, don't leave us sighin'
But Kenneth is pissed,( and we're not lyin'!)
So you can see, we're not buyin'!
So please stop bein' so durn mean
Mr Spamman, bring us, please, please, please
Mr Spamman, bring us a dream.

Fireworks and funnel clouds....

Well I haven't followed up on our trip to the farm..so here it is...

The farm was great, and it was great to see everyone there! There are so many wonderful people who work there and volunteer! All dedicated to saving the pieces from The E. F. and to making kids smile, ( both young and young at heart)!

The food was great, the people even greater....no fireworks though,( partly due to the weather), but when we got home we watched on tv, and they even had some of the firework display sincronised to the theme music of The Pirates of The Caribbean! (YAY!) However, the weather, as I mentioned, was not quite as favorable...

It wasn't too bad at the farm really...there was rain, but it was off and on, and inbetween the downpours, we all walked around the farm, and enjoyed each other's company. But... while driving, we saw a strange cloud formation......one of those "anvil" type shapes...compleate with a swirling tail just below it! .....well it was high enough in the sky, and the swirls wern't too low or too pronounced, and I have never seen one "in person" so to speak, only on tv, but it looked just like the ones you see on the news, or in the documentary I saw on tornados and "storm chasers"....just like that movie.

...Welllllll, I said to my sis-in-law, who was with us, "do you see what I see?"......."Yes,....I do"...., she says back to me....all while we tried to remain calm......later it began pouring down in sheets and we just wanted to get home in one piece...lots of folks pulling over casue of virtually no visability....( yipes!)

We get home to dicover on the news, that the cloud was indeed a tornado, and had actually touched down near the area where we were driving through.

Hi Ho - Hi Ho...

Well, with the upcoming Birthday/Anniversary event at the farm, it's back to work we go! (YAY!) - actually, I'm thrilled about it! I haven't been to the farm in a while, due to the buisness of life taking me away from it, and having other obligations...But yesterday we got back in the swing of things! - Another volunteer and I drove a honkin'-big truck. (and I do mean honkin'), over to the local 84 lumber, and picked up an exterior 4X8, 3/4 inch piece of plywood to create a new board that will have The Dish, (the original one), and The Spoon, (a re-creation of sorts), mounted onto it. The board has been primed, both back and front, and is ready to go. - We also placed The Dish on it, and traced where the prongs at the back of it are, ( there will be holes cut into the board so the prongs can go through and then be attached to a pole). Later, when I get back to the farm, I'll sketch out- and then paint on the background. New metal arms and legs are being re-created for both The Dish and The Spoon, and hands and feet will be added as well, that will be re-created out of chicken wire, and fiberglass. When all said and done, it should look pretty good! I hope we can do the original justice and that people will enjoy them just as much.

I also got back to the mural. It's like a map or layout of what The Original Enchanted Forest looked like. I have been able to add The Three Pigs Homes, and most recently I have been working on The Merry Miller's House.  I was even able to get some of the landscape painted in around it. I think I'm almost done with this particular one, except for the water wheel needs to be fixed, and some touches like the little fence that goes next to it needs to be added...and then of course the water itself :)   I hope to get The Wishing Well painted on too, in time for this August's event, as it is one of the latest arrivals to the farm from the original park.

We will be going back tomorrow, and I hope to get a little more time in on this. It's a big project and will cetainly be done in stages! I look forward to being able to get up to the farm more often. It's my therapy, and I get such joy from it, especially to see others enjoying seeing these things brought back to life!

 :)

~ Ask Me ~ - A song for Eliza - (and others who are hurting...)

I keep thinking of this song, when I read some of Eliza's work. Especially today, when I read her post titled, "You deserve so much more".  I know that are many others, even here on shoutpost, who like Eliza, have been through this painful and terrible ordeal - I wish so much that somehow, I could take that pain away

Ask Me - by Amy Grant

(These words are from Amy Grant herself, about a friend of hers)

"This song is about a girlfriend of mine. If you or someone you love has been a victim of sexual abuse, please don't be afraid to seek help. The Sexual Abuse Helpline is open 24 hours a day, and someone who cares is waiting for your call...(800)4A-CHILD

                                 ~ Ask Me ~

I see her as a little girl hiding in her room
She takes another bath and she sprays her momma's perfume
To try to wipe away the scent he left behind
But it haunts her mind.

You see she's his little rag, nothing more than just a waif
And he's mopping up his need, she is tired and afraid
Maybe she'll find a way through these awful years to disappear.

Ask me if I think there's a God up in the heaven
Where did he go in the middle of her shame?
Ask me if I think there's a God up in the heavens
I see no mercy and no one down here's naming names
Nobody's naming names.

Now she's looking in the mirror at a lovely woman face
No more frightened little girl, like she's gone without a trace
Still she leaves the light burning in the hall
It's hard to sleep at all.

Still she crawls up in her bed acting quiet as a mouse
Deep inside she's listening for a creaking in the house
But noone's left to harm her, she's finally safe and sound
There's a peace she's found.

Ask her how she knows there's a God up in the heaven
Where did he go in the middle of her shame?
Ask her how she knows there's a God up in the heavens
She said his mercy is bringing her life again.

Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heaven
(how do you know? )
Where did he go in the middle of her shame
(where did he go? )
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heavens
(how do you know? )
She said his mercy is bringing her life again
She's coming to life again.

He's in the middle of her pain
In the middle of her shame
Mercy brings life
He's in the middle
Mercy in the middle.

So ask me how I know
Ask me how I know, yeah
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heaven
(how do you know? )
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heavens
(how do you know? )
Yeah, ask me how I know
(how do you know? )
Ask me
Ask me
Ask me how I know
(how do you know? )
There's a God up in the heavens
Ask me how I know there's a God up in the heavens.
